Security Management Institute  traces its beginning to March 3, 2005. The Institute was founded as a comprehensive security policy research institute affiliated to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, providing policy studies and professional consulting on various security issues Korea is facing.

In the United States, Britain, and many other developed countries, non-governmental institutes play a significant role in government/legislative researches. In Korea, however, most policy areas, especially security and defense, are in need of proactive non-governmental research institutes.

Security Management Institute envisions to become the best professional analytical group in the field of security/defense policy research. Our commitment to academic and professional excellence will establish credibility and trust with our clients and partners.
Security Management Institute's professionalism and expertise have been recognized by the public sector as well. Our institute is a Ministry of Strategy and Finance(MOSF) approved non-profit organization eligible for donations, and is appointed as a professional research institute for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration(DAPA).Our institute also has been designated by the

Military Manpower Administration(MMA) as a military service eligible research institution. Since our foundation in 2005, Security Management Institute has completed over 400 defense policy studies and acquisition analyses. Our institute’s expertise in preliminary studies, cost/feasibility analysis, modeling & simulation, logistics support and ICT has made significant contributions to defense policymaking and acquisition projects.

Security Management Institute also functions as the opinion board for security/defense policymaking. By hosting various forums such as Security Management Forum, Defense Industry CEO Forum, Global Defense Business Round Table, and Task and Issues Seminar, our institute fosters security-related discussions among the opinion leaders and contribute to security policymaking. We will strengthen cooperative research relationships with governments, corporations, and domestic and overseas research institutes to build a collaborative research infrastructure to produce the researches optimized for the future security environment.

As Korea’s sole non-governmental security analysis & evaluation(A&E) research institute, Security Management Institute’s policy studies will continue to be the bedrock of strong defense and security structure. We ask for your interest and support.
